Sep. 29—The U.S.Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Wednesday expanded eligibility for the monkeypox vaccine.
Previously, only people who had already been exposed to monkeypox were eligible for the vaccine. Now, people who may be exposed to monkeypox in the future are also eligible. The CDC recommends that people who may be exposed to the virus in the future include people who have received a new diagnosis of a sexually transmitted disease, people with more than one sexual partner and people engaging in commercial sex. The CDC is not currently recommending the vaccine for the broader public or everyone who is sexually active.
