McCormick recalls seasoning products due to Salmonella concern

Providence Journal - 7/28/2021

McCormick & Company is recalling three of its seasoning products because of possible contamination with Salmonella bacteria, according to the Rhode Island Department of Health.

The three products are McCormick Perfect Pinch Italian Seasoning (both 1.31- and 2.25-ounce bottles), McCormick Culinary Italian Seasoning (1.75-pound bottle), and Frank's RedHot Buffalo Ranch Seasoning (153-gram bottle), the Health Department says.

Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems, according to the Health Department.

In healthy people, the bacteria can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare cases, it can get into the a person's bloodstream and cause more severe illnesses, the Health Department says.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with the products, according to the Health Department.

The four products were shipped from June 20 through July 21, 2021.

Consumers should dispose of the recalled product and its container. For a replacement, refund or questions, call McCormick consumer affairs at 1-800-635-2867, weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
