Coronavirus tracker: New cases in California total 23,027, up by 90% from previous week

Jul. 17—In California, 23,027 new cases of the coronavirus were reported July 10-16. That's a 90% increase in new cases from the previous week of 12,097, according to July 16 end-of-day totals on public health websites, bringing the total number of cases so far to 3,827,611.

There were 194 new deaths reported July 10-16. That's a 18% increase in new fatal cases from the previous week of 164, bringing the total number of deaths to 63,199.

According to the California Department of Public Health, 42.1 million vaccine doses have been administered in the state and 51% of residents were fully vaccinated as of Friday.
