Ontario County Public Health: 17 new COVID-19 cases reported Friday

HOPEWELL — Ontario County Public Health is reporting 17 new community-acquired cases of COVID-19 but new deaths Friday.

Since the start of the pandemic, 5,757 Ontario County residents have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and 100 residents have died.

The last long-term case was reported Jan. 21.

Many of the new cases reported Feb. 26 are related household contacts, school-age students and community cases.

There are 211 COVID-19 positive individuals who are being isolated. This is in addition to 356 mandatory quarantines (contacts of positive cases), totaling 567 in the isolation and quarantine category.

There are 24 people in the hospital.

With 31 recoveries reported in the last 24 hours, 5,453 recoveries have been reported since the start of the pandemic.

There were 1,130 negative tests.
