Lexington reports 194 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend, two new deaths

Sep. 7--Fayette County reported 194 new cases of COVID-19 Saturday and Sunday, along with two new deaths from the illness.

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department reported that 113 of the new cases were from Saturday and 81 were reported Sunday. The new cases bring the city's total since the outbreak began to 6,450 cases.

Two new deaths from the illness were also reported over the weekend, bringing the city to a total of 61 fatalities, according to the health department.

The health department also reminded people to wear a mask, stay 6 feet away from others and wash hands often if out in public.
