The New York Daily News - 11/7/2019

Nov. 7--The U.S. Department of Agriculture'sFood Safety and Inspection Service has recalled more than 2 million pounds of chicken across eight states.

Officials said poultry products from Arkansas-based Simmons Prepared Foods, Inc. "may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically metal," but said there have been no reports about any "adverse reactions" from people who ate the chicken.

The Department of Agriculture said the problematic poultry was produced between Oct. 21 and Nov. 4 and shipped to spots including restaurants, schools, hospitals and distributors in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.

The products have establishment codes "P-1949," "P- 486" or "P-5837" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

"Simmons Foods' values the trust our customers place in us to deliver quality products that are safe," the company said in a statement Wednesday. "When something happens that is potentially inconsistent with this promise to our customers, it will always require careful and constant review to maintain our commitment to food safety."

Anyone who bought these products is asked to throw them away or return them to the store.
