Just days after Kitsap Public Health District issued an advisory for cyanobacteria for Kitsap Lake, the district issued another closure Friday to the swimming beach due to high levels of E. coli bacteria in the water.

With elevated E. coli levels, there is an increased risk of getting sick, so KPHD has advised the public to continue to avoid all contact with the water until further notice. the risk of illness is greatest for young children, the elderly, or anyone with a compromised immune system, per the health district.

The cyanobacteria advisory will still remain in effect as well.
