Public health clinics scheduled

Feb. 19--BATH -- Steuben County aims to keep residents healthy by providing free or low cost clinics aimed at preventing the spread of infectious disease.

Immunizations should be obtained as a part of regular medical care and maintenance. If your child is in need of immunizations Steuben County Public Health is sponsoring a number of clinics in March

All vaccines recommended for children will be available at the clinics for children who are uninsured or whose insurance does not cover the cost of vaccines. An administration fee will be charged for children under 19-years-old based on a sliding scale of $5 to $25 per person.

It is recommended that adults who will be around children less than 12 months old receive the whooping cough, Tdap vaccine, as well as other adult vaccines.

Immunization clinics will be held March. 13 at the Steuben County Public Health Office at the County Building in Bath, from 1 to 3 p.m. and again in the same location on March. 26, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

All clinics are by appointment only, so please call the public health office in Bath at 607-664-2438 or 800-724-0471 to schedule an appointment or for further information.

The Board of Public Health also encourages parents with children who have special needs to contact them to see what they can do to help.

From finding funding sources for items not covered by insurance to location community resources and finding specialists and support organizations, the Public Health Board can assist you.

The Public Health Office will also offer free HIV testing clinics in March by appointment only, at the Steuben County Public Health Office in Bath.

These clinics are available to all residents of Steuben County for HIV counseling and testing. Residents seeking testing and treatment fro other types of sexually transmitted diseases , which include Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and Syphilis should call for a referral.
